Chandrayaan-3: August 23 as National Space Day

Chandrayaan-3: As a mark of appreciation for the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared August 23 to be observed as “National Space Day.” When speaking to a group of committed ISRO scientists in Bengaluru, PM Modi honored them for not only accomplishing amazing feats but also inspiring a generation and leaving a lasting impression on young minds.

The Prime Minister unveiled symbolic names for the key stops on India’s lunar journey as part of the celebrations. ‘Shivshakti’ will be the name given to the spot where the Vikram lander landed in honor of Chandrayaan-3’s successful landing. PM Modi announced this information during his speech at the ISRO Telemetry Tracking & Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru.

PM Modi’s Visit to Bengaluru, ISRO Headquarters

To personally extend his congratulations on the successful Chandrayaan-3 lander touchdown, PM Modi embarked on a swift visit to Bengaluru. This visit followed his return from diplomatic engagements in Greece and South Africa. The reception at the ISRO headquarters was warm and enthusiastic as he arrived.

PM Modi spoke with the team of committed researchers from the Indian Space Research Organisation, who were essential to the mission’s success, during his visit. Notably, while attending the 15th BRICS Summit in South Africa, PM Modi virtually witnessed the historic event of the Vikram lander’s lunar landing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was personally welcomed and celebrated by ISRO Chairman S. Somanath, who then gave him a warm embrace to symbolize the celebration of the mission’s success.
