PM Modi mega roadshow in Varanasi, to launch development projects worth crores

Varanasi: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in his home parliamentary constituency of Varanasi for a two-day visit. He was there to inaugurate 37 projects totaling more than ₹ 19,000 crore for the advancement of the area. People pelted the prime minister’s cavalcade with flower petals as it left the airport upon his arrival in Varanasi.

PM Modi will introduce the second iteration of Kashi Tamil Sangamam in the evening at Namo Ghat on the first day of his visit to Varanasi. He will launch the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, which will run between Varanasi and Kanyakumari, at the event.

According to an official statement, 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be attending the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which is scheduled to take place from December 17–31. They are expected to visit Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.

Apart from the cultural interchange, there will also be an exhibition featuring a diverse range of artwork, music, handlooms, handicrafts, food, and other unique products from Kashi and Tamil Nadu.

In order to foster closer ties between the residents of Kashi and Tamil Nadu, the program will also include cultural events that showcase the distinctive customs of both states, according to the statement.

The ministries of culture, tourism, railways, textiles, food processing, MSME, information and broadcasting, skill development and entrepreneurship, IRCTC, and related Uttar Pradesh government departments are involved in the event, with the Union Ministry of Education serving as the nodal agency.

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam will encompass lectures covering literature, ancient texts, philosophy, spirituality, music, dance, drama, yoga, and Ayurveda. Additionally, seminars are planned on innovation, trade, knowledge exchange, edutech, and next-gen technology.

The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programme will be attended by Prime Minister Modi on Monday at Barki Gram Sabha in the Sewapuri development block.

According to the release, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 37 projects in Varanasi and the Purvanchal region, totaling ₹ 19,155 crore.

Projects pertaining to police welfare, smart city and urban development initiatives, railroads, airports, health and education, and roads and bridges are all included.

The prime minister will also unveil a dedicated freight corridor project, valued at over ₹10,000 crore, that will link New Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and New Bhaupur.

Additionally, Modi will open the ₹ 166 crore Lahartara-Phulwaria-Shivpur four-lane road. During his visit, he might also pay respects at the Kaal Bhairav Temple and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
